Shelter Cove is a small fishing village located between the Pacific Ocean and the Coastal Mountain Range, on the Northern California coast in Southern Humboldt County, home of the Cape Mendocino Lighthouse. With the spectacular scenery of the Lost Coast as a backdrop, it is an ideal location for an outdoor quilt show.
The Labor of Love Quilt Show is held on the Saturday of Labor Day weekend, and is a one day event to showcase a truly American art form. With both handmade, traditional, and modern quilts hung from the balconies of homes, the 2 mile walking or driving tour is well worth the trip "off the beaten path". The antique and art quilts are displayed inside the Community Clubhouse. From the earliest quilts that were strictly functional to modern textile arts of today, we celebrate the beautiful work that is truly a labor of love. We are currently seeking entries until August 20th, 2024.
We welcome both new and antique quilts. The show is free, and People's Choice Awards are presented. We welcome both participants and spectators, and we hope you can join us for a great quilt show.
We are pleased to announce the success of our annual quilt show has resulted in the creation of the Lost Coast Quilt Guild. We are a very small guild, but our emphasis is on preserving and continuing the tradition and history of quilting. Also to improve our skills and contributing to community education and appreciate of quilts and quilt making.
